Dr Kavitha Subramaniam has a special interest in the management of inflammatory bowel disease (ulcerative colitis and Crohn’s disease) and has published journal articles in gastroenterology and hepatology especially in the field of inflammatory bowel disease. Her other interests include colorectal cancer screening and management of upper gastrointestinal bleeding.
She graduated in medicine from the University of Western Australia and undertook advanced training in gastroenterology in Perth, Western Australia leading to a Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians in Gastroenterology and Hepatology. This included training in inflammatory bowel disease under Prof Paul Pavli at The Canberra Hospital.
She is currently a Staff Specialist at The Canberra Hospital and teaches at the Australian National University Medical School.
